Caco-2 nuclear extract
Active Motif's Caco-2 nuclear extract was prepared from cell cultures of the human colorectal adenocarcinoma Caco-2 cell line. The Caco-2 cell line was originally derived from a colon carcinoma and functionally demonstrates properties resembling enterocytes of the small intestine. When confluent, these cells form a polarized epithelial monolayer with properties similar to those of the mucosal lining of the small intestine. In research, Caco-2 cells are most commonly as in vitro models of the small intestinal mucosa to study the physiological and biochemical properties of intestinal permeability, adsorption, transport and metabolism of ions, small molecules, and drug therapies.
