Casework Extraction Kit
Extraction from certain sample types (e.g., sperm cells) traditionally requires the use of dithiothreitol (DTT) as part of the extraction method. The Casework Extraction Kit includes 1-Thioglycerol, which, unlike DTT, can be stored at 2–10°C, and provides extraction performance comparable to that with DTT. The DNA can then be purified using the DNA IQ™ System, the DNA IQ™ Casework Pro Kit for Maxwell® 16 or the Maxwell® FSC DNA IQ™ Casework Kit.
Tissue and Hair Extraction Kit
Some samples, such as tissue and hair, require pretreatment with proteinase K. In addition, extracting DNA can be difficult from substrates such as denim, envelopes, carpet, etc. The Tissue and Hair Extraction Kit increases DNA yield from challenging casework samples and substrates. The kit uses Proteinase K and other reagents to remove proteins and other components from the DNA, helping to ensure maximal yield and recovery of DNA from casework samples. The DNA then can be purified using the DNA IQ™ System, the DNA IQ™ Casework Pro Kit for Maxwell® 16 or the Maxwell® FSC DNA IQ™ Casework Kit.
