  • IPTG, Dioxane-Free (isopropyl-?-d-thiogalactopyranoside), is an inducer of ?-galactosidase activity in many bacteria. Functioning as a lac analog, IPTG induces ?-galactosidase activity by binding to and inhibiting the lac repressor. This product is used to differentiate recombinants from nonrecombinants in cloning strategies using vectors containing the lacZ or lacZ ?-peptide gene.
