Recombinant BRDT (21-137) protein, GST-Tag
BRDT is similar to the RING3 protein family. It possesses two bromodomain motifs and a PEST sequence (a cluster of proline, glutamic acid, serine, and threonine residues), characteristic of proteins that undergo rapid intracellular degradation. The bromodomain functions as a 'reader' of epigenetic histone marks and regulates chromatin structure and gene expression by linking associated proteins to the recognized acetylated nucleosomal targets. It shows binding specificity for acetylated H2BK12/15, H3K9/14/18/23, H4K12, H4K5/8, H4K8/12, H4K12/16, H4K5/12, H4K5/8/12/16 and H4K5/8/12/16.
