HeLa nuclear extract (4 hr serum response)

Active Motif's HeLa nuclear extract (4 hr serum response) was prepared from a cell culture of the HeLa human epithelial carcinoma cell line. The HeLa cell line was originally derived from cells obtained in 1951 from Henrietta Lacks, a cervical cancer patient who eventually died from her cancer. The HeLa cell line is one of the oldest and most commonly utilized immortal cell lines in scientific research. These cells are highly prolific and easily sustainable, allowing for flexibility in their application in various fields of scientific research, including cancer biology, virology, and human disease. To date, over 60,000 publications across various disciplines have referenced the use of HeLa cells. The addition of serum to HeLa cells after serum starvation stimulates various biological processes associated with induction of gene expression, differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis. Therefore, serum-stimulated cells are commonly utilized in research to analyze activation of transcription of early response genes. It has been shown that serum stimulation leads to activation of several key transcription factors, including activator protein 1 (AP-1) family and Sp1, that regulate the expression of early response genes.
